Top 10 Reward Gateway Alternatives for Perks & Recognition

Compare 10 Reward Gateway alternatives for perks and recognition on benefits depth, rewards reach, integrations and reviews. See where Empuls fits.

A benefits suite can look complete in a demo and still go quiet in practice. Employees open the discount portal twice a year, recognition lives in a separate feed, and HR cannot say which perks anyone used.

That is often the moment a team starts looking at Reward Gateway alternatives. Reward Gateway, now part of Edenred, bundles recognition with discounts, wellbeing, surveys and communications. Buyers still compare it with others when ownership, coverage or the shape of the suite changes what they need.

The stakes are real. Gallup found that well-recognized employees are 45% less likely to have left over a two-year period, so the recognition half of a perks program is worth getting right.

We compared 10 platforms on perks and benefits depth, recognition, rewards reach, integrations and independent reviews. The order groups platforms by what they do best, not by score.

Disclosure: Xoxoday publishes this guide and Empuls is one of the 10. All are judged on the same criteria.

What Makes a Good Perks and Recognition Platform?

Perks and recognition only pay off when employees use them. Few platforms can show that they do.

We judged every platform on five tests:

  • Perks and benefits depth. A discount catalog, a spending account and a benefits portal are different things. Check which ones the platform actually administers.
  • Recognition and rewards. A perk lands better when it is tied to a moment. Platforms that connect recognition to rewards give HR one place to act.
  • Reach across locations. Languages, currencies and local reward choice decide whether a program works outside one country.
  • Fit with your stack. Look for Slack, Microsoft Teams and HRIS connections your team already uses.
  • Independent reviews. G2 and Capterra scores show how real customers rate day-to-day use.

Perks depth and reach across locations carried the most weight, since they decide whether the program is used outside headquarters. Feature claims come from each vendor's public pages, written in our own words. Scale figures such as country counts are the vendors' own claims. Ratings come from G2, Capterra and Everest Group as of November 2026 and change over time. Where a score rests on fewer than 20 reviews, we show the count.

What to Ask Before You Switch Platforms

Most comparisons skip what decides whether a switch goes well: what happens to perks, points and history in the move. Ask every vendor these four questions.

  • Which benefit and perk types do you administer, and which do you only link to? A portal that links out is not the same as one that handles claims or redemptions.
  • Can I see usage by perk and by location after 90 days? If a vendor cannot report adoption, you cannot fix low use.
  • What happens to current point balances and recognition history? Get the migration plan in writing, including whether balances carry over.
  • What does an employee outside the main country see? Ask for the catalog, language and currency a remote employee would actually get.

Which Perks and Recognition Platform Should You Choose?

If you want perks, benefits and recognition in one place, start with Xoxoday Empuls, Perkbox and Benifex. For a mid-market program with many languages, look at Vantage Circle. For broad local reward choice, compare Awardco and Achievers, and for multi-brand program design, Inspirus. For lighter chat-based recognition, look at Bonusly, and for enterprise analytics and custom awards, compare Workhuman and O.C. Tanner.
