The 10 Best Employee Recognition Platforms with Gift Card Rewards

Compare 10 employee recognition platforms with gift card rewards on catalog reach, integrations and ratings. See where Empuls fits.

A gift card is the easiest reward to buy and the easiest to get wrong. Send the same card to a team across five countries and half of them cannot spend it.

Recognition adds a second problem. A card with no message attached feels like a payroll adjustment, and a message with no reward attached is easy to ignore.

Gallup's 2026 data shows how thin the habit is: 65% of employees got no recognition last year. Tools that make giving a thank-you and a reward one action are how teams close that gap.

We compared 10 platforms that pair recognition with gift card rewards, grouped by what each does best: recognition platforms with built-in rewards, and gift card engines that teams use for recognition. For a broader view, see the best employee recognition software in 2026.

Disclosure: Xoxoday publishes this guide and Empuls is one of the 10. All are judged on the same criteria.

What makes a recognition platform good at gift card rewards?

The gap between these two numbers is the case for pairing the two.

We judged every platform on five tests:

  • Recognition and reward together. Can a manager or peer send a message and a reward in one step, or does the card go out through a separate tool?
  • Catalog reach. Check how many countries and currencies the gift card catalog covers, and whether recipients can choose their own brand.
  • Triggers and integrations. Look for HR, Slack and Teams connections that send a reward on an anniversary or a nomination.
  • Budget control. Managers should draw from a set budget, with approvals and reporting that finance can audit.
  • Tax and compliance fit. Gift cards can count as taxable income in some countries, so check for the regional rules your team needs.

Catalog reach and recognition-plus-reward in one step carried the most weight. Feature claims come from each vendor's public pages, written in our own words. Ratings come from G2 as of November 2026 and change over time. Where a score rests on fewer than 20 reviews, we show the count.

What to ask before you choose a platform

Gift card programs go wrong in the details. These four questions surface them early.

  • Where can recipients actually spend the card? Ask for the catalog by country, and whether employees can choose the brand.
  • Can a reward go out with the recognition message? If the card and the thank-you travel separately, adoption usually drops.
  • How are budgets and approvals controlled? Managers need a cap, and finance needs a report of who received what.
  • What are the tax rules in each country? Cash-equivalent gifts are treated differently across regions, so confirm what the vendor supports. See our employee gift cards guide for the basics.

Which platform should you choose?

If you want recognition, points and a global gift card catalog on one platform, start with Empuls. For UK programs that mix recognition with benefits, compare Boostworks and Each Person. For manager-led gifting, look at Huggg. If you already run recognition elsewhere and only need a way to send rewards, compare Tremendous, Giftogram, Prezzee, eGifter and Blackhawk Network Tango.

To design the program itself, read our guides to an employee recognition program and the types of rewards, or compare enterprise rewards software.
