A corporate giving program often starts strong. Matching campaigns fill up in December, then participation settles and the CSR team is left stitching together hours, donations and grants for the annual impact report.
By then, many teams start comparing Benevity alternatives. Benevity is a long-established employee giving and CSR platform, and it suits many large programs. Others look elsewhere when they want faster matching, a stronger volunteering focus, grant workflows, regional reporting or giving that sits closer to everyday recognition.
Participation is the hard part. CECP's Giving in Numbers 2025 data puts average participation at 25% for volunteering and 21% for matching gifts, so the platform you choose has to make giving easy to start and easy to repeat.
We compared 10 platforms on program coverage, matching and payout speed, volunteering depth, reporting and independent reviews. The order groups platforms by what they do best, not by score.
Disclosure: Xoxoday publishes this guide and Empuls is one of the 10. All are judged on the same criteria.

We judged every platform on five tests:
- Program coverage. Giving, matching, volunteering and grants should work together, or integrate cleanly if they do not.
- Matching and payout speed. Employees give more when the match is automatic and the nonprofit is paid quickly.
- Volunteering depth. Virtual, in-person and skills-based options, with hours captured without manual entry.
- Reporting. CSR teams need results they can put in an impact report, by region and program. See how engagement links to retention.
- Independent reviews. G2 and Capterra scores show how real customers rate day-to-day use.
Program coverage and reporting carried the most weight, since they decide whether a program survives the second year. Feature claims come from each vendor's public pages, written in our own words. Ratings come from G2, Capterra and Gartner Peer Insights as of November 2026 and change over time. Where a score rests on fewer than 20 reviews, we show the count.

1. Xoxoday Empuls
Xoxoday Empuls is an employee engagement platform, not a dedicated giving suite. It runs peer and manager recognition, award nominations, pulse surveys and a rewards catalog, and it includes charity and donation options alongside gift cards, experiences and merchandise. CSR and volunteering moments can be recognized and rewarded in the same place as everyday work.
Rewards are drawn from a marketplace of 10M+ options across 150+ countries, priced in local currency. The platform supports 50+ languages and 50+ currencies, and it is SOC 2 certified and GDPR compliant.
- Volunteering and giving can be recognized next to daily recognition and rewards
- Charity and donation options sit in the same catalog as other rewards
- Recognition, surveys and rewards share one platform and one set of reports
- Not built for grants management or deep nonprofit due diligence, so pair it with a giving specialist if you need either
2. YourCause
YourCause, from Blackbaud, bundles three products: CSRconnect for employee giving, volunteering and engagement, GrantsConnect for grantmaking, and Impact Edge for reporting. A CSR team can run donation matching, volunteer hours and events, and corporate grants from one vendor.
Reviewers on G2 describe it as a one-stop shop for volunteer hours, events and matching, and they single out the Impact Edge reporting.
- Giving, volunteering and grants under one vendor
- Impact Edge reporting for program results
- Volunteer hours, events and matching tracked together
- More than you need if you only want a simple matching program
3. Bonterra (Deed and CyberGrants)
Bonterra acquired Deed in 2026 and now sells it as Bonterra Deed, which pairs Deed Engage with Deed Grants. Deed Engage covers mobile-first giving, volunteering, gamification, employee resource groups and cause discovery. Deed Grants adds configurable workflows for corporate grant programs, approvals and reporting.
Bonterra also owns CyberGrants, so the two products now sit under one parent. The company lists over 160,000 pre-screened nonprofits and says giving works across more than 100 countries.
- Mobile-first giving, volunteering and employee resource groups
- Matching gifts, payroll and credit card giving, and charitable spending accounts
- Grant workflows with approvals and portfolio reporting
- Two product lines under one parent, so confirm which one fits your program in a demo
4. Submittable
Submittable's CSR software was formerly Bright Funds, which Submittable gained when it acquired WizeHive in August 2024. It covers matching gifts, paid volunteer time, community grants, fundraising campaigns and volunteer events, plus employee resource groups through its WeHero product.
Bright Funds is available in the Microsoft Teams store with a two-way integration, so employees can give and volunteer without leaving Teams.
- Giving, volunteering and grants in one suite
- Two-way Microsoft Teams integration
- Paid volunteer time and fundraising campaigns
- Bright Funds now sits inside a larger grants platform, so ask how the CSR modules are packaged
5. Groundswell
Groundswell is built around speed and self-service. It offers instant matching with next-day distribution, payroll giving, donor-advised funds for each employee and recurring gifts. Stock and crypto donations are also supported.
Admins control charity eligibility with a GuideStar integration, segment employees with HRIS data and white-label the experience. Volunteering, employee communities and corporate grantmaking sit alongside giving.
- Instant matching with next-day fund distribution
- Charity eligibility controls through GuideStar
- Self-service tools and white-labeling for admins
- Check reporting depth in a demo if you need enterprise-scale impact reports
6. Uncommon Giving
Uncommon Giving gives each employee a portable giving wallet built on donor-advised funds. Companies can automate matching gifts, run dollars-for-doers volunteering programs, and set up campaigns and challenges.
The company says its vetted database covers 1.8M+ nonprofits. HRIS, payroll, SSO and Slack integrations, plus real-time dashboards, keep setup light for teams without a dedicated CSR department.
- Portable wallets that stay with the employee
- Dollars-for-doers links volunteering to giving
- HRIS, payroll, SSO and Slack integrations
- Built for ease of use, so heavy grant workflows may need another tool
7. Millie
Millie combines online donations, donation matching and a database of remote and in-person volunteer opportunities. Its Giving Madness feature turns giving into a bracket-style tournament where employees vote for nonprofits across four rounds.
Third-party profiles say the platform gives access to 7 million nonprofits worldwide, with matching gifts submitted automatically. Confirm current coverage in a demo.
- Giving Madness tournament adds a social hook
- Remote and in-person volunteer opportunities
- Automated matching gift submission
- Public review data is thin, so ask for customer references
8. Goodera
Goodera is a volunteering-led platform that runs virtual, in-person and hybrid programs. The company says it works in 100+ countries with 50,000+ nonprofit partners across 50+ cause areas, and the platform supports 30+ languages.
Employees browse, book and track events in one place, and teams get impact dashboards and post-event reports. Local nonprofits can be nominated for onboarding.
- Virtual, in-person and hybrid volunteering
- 30+ languages for global teams
- Impact dashboards and post-event reporting
- Volunteering is the core, so confirm matching and grant depth if you need them
9. GivePulse
GivePulse centers on volunteer management and impact tracking. It offers event scheduling, registration, volunteer recruiting, attendance tracking and mobile check-in by QR code, with a points system volunteers can redeem for prizes.
It is used in higher education as well as corporate volunteering, which suits teams that coordinate service with partner schools or community groups.
- QR code check-in for events
- Registration, recruiting and attendance in one tool
- Points system adds a gamified layer
- Volunteer-focused, so giving and matching depth is lighter than the giving suites
10. Optimy
Optimy is a European platform that manages grants, sponsorships, corporate volunteering and community investment in one place. Reporting is aligned to CSRD and SFDR, with live dashboards, outcome surveys, KPI tracking and a full audit trail.
The company lists 22+ languages, ISO 27001 security and GDPR compliance, with EU or US hosting. It says deployment takes 6 to 8 weeks.
- CSRD and SFDR-aligned impact reporting
- Grants, sponsorships and volunteering in one tool
- Audit trail on all actions
- Weighted toward grants and reporting rather than employee-facing giving
What to Ask Before You Switch Platforms
Most comparisons skip what decides whether a switch goes well: what happens to donation history, employee giving profiles and nonprofit relationships in the move. Ask every vendor these four questions.
- Can giving history and volunteer hours move with us? Ask for a written plan that covers past donations, matching balances and recognition for prior volunteers.
- How fast does a match reach the nonprofit? Ask for the typical timeline from employee gift to payout, not the best case.
- Which countries and currencies are supported for giving? Ask for the list by country, since total reach numbers hide gaps.
- What does reporting look like with our own data? Request a demo on sample data that looks like yours, including any regional reporting you owe.
Which Alternative Should You Choose?
If you run a large program that combines giving and grants, compare YourCause, Bonterra and Submittable. If fast matching and self-service setup matter most, look at Groundswell, Uncommon Giving and Millie. For volunteering-led programs, compare Goodera and GivePulse. For European reporting needs, start with Optimy. If you want volunteering and giving recognized next to everyday rewards and surveys, start with Xoxoday Empuls. Frequently asked questions
Common reasons include a need for faster matching, deeper volunteering features, grant workflows, regional reporting or giving connected to recognition. Test each in a demo with your own program data.
Look for donation matching, volunteer hour tracking, nonprofit vetting, payroll or HRIS integration and reporting you can use in an impact report. Mobile access and Slack or Microsoft Teams integrations raise participation.
Use the same checklist for every vendor: match-to-payout speed, supported countries, volunteering formats, reporting on sample data and a rollout plan. Ask each vendor to demo your scenarios, not theirs.
Dedicated giving suites go deepest on giving, volunteering and grants. Xoxoday Empuls covers recognition, surveys and rewards, including charity and donation options, so some teams pair a giving specialist with Empuls.
It depends on HRIS and payroll integration, nonprofit data and the number of countries. Ask each vendor for a written timeline that covers donation history and matching balances, and pilot one region first.
