Compare 10 employee recognition and engagement platforms for the UAE and GCC on regional fit, deskless reach and ratings. See where Empuls fits.

UAE employee recognition platforms

An HR head in Dubai has a recognition budget and a team from 40 countries. The rewards catalog is full of items that mean little to a site technician from Manila or a driver from Lagos. Half the workforce has no company email, so the thank-you never reaches them.

That is the GCC engagement problem in one scene. Gallup's 2025 report puts engagement across the Middle East and North Africa at 14%, among the lowest of any region. The UAE and Saudi Arabia sit higher at 26%, which still leaves three in four employees not engaged.

We compared 10 platforms on regional fit, multilingual reach, deskless access, rewards and independent reviews. The list groups them by what they do best: recognition platforms first, then wellbeing and talent suites, then listening tools, then Gulf HR systems.

Disclosure: Xoxoday publishes this guide and Empuls is one of the 10. All are judged on the same criteria.

  6. Limeade for wellbeing-led engagement inside Microsoft Teams

What makes a good engagement platform for the GCC?

Most tools look alike in a demo. A multinational workforce, local compliance and shift-based roles are what separate them.

We judged every platform on five tests:

  • Regional fit. Look for GCC customers, local support and an understanding of rules such as Emiratisation targets and Saudization. A vendor with no regional footprint will take longer to implement.
  • Multilingual and multicultural reach. Teams here span dozens of nationalities. Arabic, Hindi, Tagalog and English content, and rewards that mean something in each home market, decide whether people use the tool.
  • Deskless access. Drivers, technicians and site crews need sign-in without a corporate inbox, and messages that arrive on WhatsApp or SMS.
  • Rewards and governance. Budgets, approvals and an audit trail matter, especially for government-linked employers. A catalog that works across countries beats one tied to a single market.
  • Independent reviews. G2 and Capterra scores show how real users rate a tool, and review counts show how much weight to give them.

Regional fit and deskless access carried the most weight, since they decide whether staff actually use the tool. Feature claims come from each vendor's public pages, written in our own words. Ratings come from G2 and Capterra as of October 2026 and change over time. Where a score rests on fewer than 20 reviews, we show the count. For the cultural context behind these choices, read our guide to employee engagement in the UAE.

1. Xoxoday Empuls

Xoxoday Empuls runs recognition, surveys, benefits, communication and incentives from one platform, with a rewards catalog of 10M+ options in 150+ countries behind it. For a GCC employer, the catalog matters because one team can include people from a dozen countries who want different things. Rewards can be priced with a cost-of-living index, so a thank-you carries comparable weight in Riyadh and in Manila.

Award budgets, governance rules and reward-abuse reports sit next to the recognition itself, so HR can see what was given and why. Staff can sign in with an employee ID or mobile number, which helps with technicians, drivers and site crews who have no company inbox. The platform supports 50+ languages, is SOC 2 certified and GDPR compliant, and offers a choice of data location for teams with residency rules.

Pros
  • Cost-of-living index keeps rewards equitable across countries
  • Award budgets, governance rules and reward-abuse reports
  • Employee ID or mobile sign-in for deskless staff
Cons
  • More than you need if all you want is an annual survey

2. Workfam

Workfam describes itself as the first gamified employee engagement platform born in the UAE. It bundles employee benefits, corporate wellness, internal communications, training, pulse surveys and reward and recognition in one app.

Its UAE origin is the draw for a local employer that wants a regional vendor. Its website did not load during our review, so the module list comes from a third-party profile. Confirm current features and customers directly with the vendor.

Pros
  • Founded in the UAE with a regional focus
  • Perks, wellness and recognition in one app
  • Gamified mechanics for participation
Cons
  • Our review could not load its site, so verify current features and references

3. Walaplus

Walaplus is a Saudi-focused employee wellbeing platform. Walaplus Offers carries employee discounts, and Walaplus Bravo handles recognition and rewards. Walaplus Pioneer measures happiness and loyalty, and Walaplus Active tracks activity challenges.

The company says it serves 1,300+ clients and 1M+ users, and lists 11,600+ offers and discounts, though those are its own figures. It frames its program around five pillars: career, financial, mental, physical and social wellbeing. It leads with a local merchant network, so it suits employers that want a discount-heavy benefit. A multinational with staff across several GCC countries should check its reach beyond Saudi Arabia.

Pros
  • Local merchant discounts bundled with recognition
  • Happiness and loyalty index through Walaplus Pioneer
  • Activity challenges with Walaplus Active
Cons
  • Primary focus is Saudi Arabia, so confirm coverage in other GCC markets

4. Workstars

Workstars is a recognition platform built around a peer recognition feed, points and a rewards catalog. The vendor lists 5,000+ gift cards and prepaid MasterCard options, plus automated milestone celebrations with badges.

It supports multi-country programs with currency conversion, cost-of-living adjustments and local languages, and connects with Slack, Teams, Office 365 and major HR systems. Surveys and communications are not its focus, so teams that want those would pair it with another tool.

Pros
  • Recognition feed with points and automated milestones
  • Currency conversion and cost-of-living adjustments
  • Slack, Teams and Office 365 integrations
Cons
  • Narrower than a full engagement suite, with surveys and communications left to other tools

5. Engagedly

Engagedly is a talent management suite that covers performance reviews, goals and OKRs, learning, pulse surveys and gamified recognition. Its AI assistant, Marissa, supports managers with feedback and summaries.

It fits a company that wants recognition and goal conversations in the same place, and less so one that wants a dedicated recognition program. The vendor lists 30+ integrations, including Slack, Microsoft Teams, Workday and SAP SuccessFactors, and a mobile-first option for frontline teams.

Pros
  • Recognition and rewards sit beside goals and reviews
  • Learning platform and career paths in the same suite
  • Mobile-first option for frontline teams
Cons
  • A broad suite means more to configure, and no GCC-specific detail is published

6. Limeade

Limeade pairs a wellbeing platform with a listening product. Limeade Well-Being covers assessments, activity tracking, goals and challenges across physical, emotional, financial and social health. Limeade Listening gathers employee feedback, and clinical analytics integrate with the wellbeing data.

A Microsoft Teams integration delivers content and recommendations where many office staff already work. Its public pages focus on wellbeing and listening, with recognition and rewards less prominent. It names no GCC presence, so ask about regional support and data hosting.

Pros
  • Wellbeing across four dimensions in one program
  • Microsoft Teams delivery
  • Listening and wellbeing data in one place
Cons
  • Recognition and rewards are not a headline capability, and no GCC presence is published

7. Great Place to Work

Great Place to Work is a survey and certification body rather than a recognition platform. Its Employee Survey Platform measures trust and culture, the Great Place to Work Certification validates results, and the Best Workplaces lists rank employers by region.

It operates a Middle East office and covers all six GCC countries. Certification gives a public signal that helps with hiring in markets where employer reputation travels fast. It does not run day-to-day recognition or rewards, so most employers use it next to a platform that does.

Pros
  • Certification and Best Workplaces lists recognized across the GCC
  • Culture survey benchmarked against other employers
  • Covers Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman
Cons
  • Measures and certifies culture but does not run recognition or rewards

8. CultureMonkey

CultureMonkey is a survey-first platform for engagement, pulse, lifecycle, eNPS and anonymous feedback. Surveys go out over WhatsApp, SMS, email, Teams, Slack and QR codes, and the vendor lists 100+ languages.

Analysis includes driver analysis, heatmaps, since-last-survey deltas and flags for at-risk teams, with an AI assistant called Ask Cooper for sentiment. The vendor lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and GDPR, with integrations for Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, UKG and ADP. It is built for listening, not recognition.

Pros
  • WhatsApp, SMS and QR delivery reaches staff without a desk
  • 100+ languages for a multinational workforce
  • SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 listed by the vendor
Cons
  • Listening only, so recognition and rewards need another tool

9. Workleap Officevibe

Officevibe is now sold as Workleap Officevibe. It gives managers pulse surveys, anonymous feedback and a Good Vibes recognition feature, with AI-assisted analysis of survey results and recommended actions.

The vendor positions it for small and mid-sized businesses and lists 100+ integrations, including Slack, Teams and Workday. It states no GCC presence, so a regional employer should ask about language support, support hours and data location early.

Pros
  • Pulse surveys with AI-assisted analysis
  • Good Vibes peer recognition cards
  • 100+ integrations including Slack and Teams
Cons
  • Aimed at small and mid-sized teams, with no GCC presence published

10. Bayzat

Bayzat is a Gulf HR platform first. Its modules cover core HR, payroll with WPS file generation, performance, insurance and benefits, and expenses, with gratuity and end-of-service calculations aligned to local rules.

Engagement is a lighter layer, with pulse surveys and a news feed for announcements and celebrations. The vendor says it serves 4,000+ companies and lists ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2. Choose it when compliance-ready HR is the main need, and add a recognition platform if you want a full rewards program.

Pros
  • WPS payroll and gratuity calculations built for UAE rules
  • Insurance and benefits in the same system
  • ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 listed by the vendor
Cons

What to ask before you choose a platform

Most comparisons stop at features. These four questions decide whether a GCC rollout works.

  • Which GCC customers can you name? Ask for a reference in your country and sector, not a global logo slide.
  • Where is our data hosted? Government-linked employers often need in-country hosting. Ask for the options in writing.
  • Can a driver or technician use it with no company email? Test sign-in on a personal phone, and check that WhatsApp or SMS reach people.
  • How do rewards work across nationalities? Ask to see the catalog for your three largest employee groups, and how budgets adjust by country.

Which platform should you choose?

If you want recognition, surveys and rewards on one governed platform, start with Empuls, then compare Engagedly and Workstars. If your priority is a Gulf-built perks and wellness app, look at Workfam or Walaplus. If you need survey-led listening or a certification, compare CultureMonkey and Great Place to Work. If compliance-ready HR comes first, look at Bayzat. For deskless teams, see our list of employee recognition software for frontline and field workers, or compare employee engagement survey tools.
